Scholar Applicant Criteria

New Hanover Scholars will award a one-time scholarship amount to be disbursed in the Fall semester.

Each Applicant MUST:

Be from a historically marginalized community.
Be a current graduating high school senior.
Be a resident of New Hanover County and attend New Hanover High School.
Be accepted and enrolled as a full-time student at a four-year college or university immediately after graduation from high school.
Have strong leadership potential.
Have a current cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 unweighted scale, verified by a current high school transcript.
Demonstrate financial need.
Submit two letters of recommendation from non-relatives.
Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for New Hanover Scholars as an award recipient.
